Therapy for Parents
Online & in person in new york
Being a parent is one of the most gratifying yet exhausting efforts ever.
You’ve heard it before: Parenting is the most beautiful and overwhelming journey! It’s filled with sweet moments like watching your kids take their first steps or graduate from high school; it is also an experience of uncertainty and frightening challenges. You might not understand why your child is acting in a certain way or perhaps you are struggling to meet your responsibilities while also tending to your needs as a parent, partner, professional, and individual. You may feel powerless in knowing how to support your kid, knowing how to parent, while also carrying the wounds of the generations before you. You notice this shows up not only in relationship with them, but also in your work and interactions with others. Maybe you’ve never felt safe enough to voice these things and you were judged as being just “angry” and “unavailable”.
Maybe you’re noticing:
Disconnection from yourself and others
Guilt about how you show up for your child
Burying yourself in work to keep your mind off the hurtful things
Elevated anxiety and depression
Becoming increasingly irritated by the little things
Struggling to sleep or rest
You can feel happy and confident in your family life!
Individual therapy for parents
Therapy for parents can help you identify, address, and manage your own past or present experiences that may be affecting the way you relate to yourself and your child. It also offers a nonjudgmental space for you to slow down, be present, and be honest with yourself.
You don’t have to do this alone! I am committed to supporting insightful and motivated parents like you! Our sessions can be about talking research, exploring helpful tools, getting to the root of your parenting problems and finding practical strategies to handle them. We collaborate to create a customized treatment plan in order for you to achieve your goals. We’ll meet in a confidential virtual space to discuss your concerns, dig deep, and discover tailored skills to promote not only a secure attachment with your child, but reconnection to yourself as well.
Parenthood brings the unique opportunity to learn from the past and find creative ways to know ourselves better. As a parent myself, I get it. You can feel like yourself again, and live the life you want. I can help you get there.

Yes, if your partner is involved or wants to be involved in your treatment. However, if you need to process issues in your relationship, they are best addressed in couples or family therapy for which I can happily provide resources. As your individual therapist, I am focused on your specific needs, which can feel unfair or uncomfortable for your partner. Couples or family therapy can help you better address issues in your relationship.
